If you have a Mental Health Care Treatment plan, you will be able to access a rebate from Medicare. Where you have been referred by a specialist (paediatrician/psychiatrist) for an assessment of Autism, you may be able to access additional rebated sessions for the purposes of assessment. Please note: 1. Medicare rebates are not available for couples therapy, cognitive assessments, parenting sessions when the child is not present, and some other specific situations. 2. Yes. Medicare Rebate A referral or Mental Health Care Plan from your GP is necessary for you to be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year.
